Smart Digital Pen

A computer in a pen! Yes, smart digital pen is a new type of mobile computer that combines the four basic modes of human communication i.e. - listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Livescribe’s Echo smart pen is a big hit amongst people who need a paperless environment. Echo smart pen which automatically digitizes written notes was introduced with more storage and improved features. The Echo note taker pen has 4 GB and 8 GB capacity that can record 400 and 800 hours of data respectively. Echo digital writers are surely a creative new take on the smart pen. The aim is to make organizing, sharing, and recalling written notes neater, easier and faster.
Livescribe packing cool technology and its applications into an ordinary ball point pen has introduced Echo digital pen with ergonomic design, and is flat on one side, so that it does not roll over. 3D recording headset ear bud has an embedded microphone that records quality audio. It has a standard micro USB connector and a 3.5 mm audio jack to enable you to connect yourself to the pen and also share common USB cables with other mobile devices. A new feature Launch Line is for which if you underline a word and then associate that word with an app, you can launch that app in the future by tapping on the line. It has app to assist visually impaired students. View Plus feature produces embossed color images. The pen also has a password on it now so that your data remains safe and private. You can put your name on the display, making it easier for someone to return the pen if ever you lose it. There are more than 60 apps in the Livescribe beta application store. You can share your audio files, known as pencasts, and other Livescribe data with anyone who has the Livescribe desktop software, downloadable for free. With paper tablet software, users can write with the pen while it is connected to a computer so that images they write on paper appear directly on the screen. It is a great tool for artists or architects who want to create an image on a computer but are more comfortable drawing on paper. The paper tablet essentially transforms a laptop connected pen into a live graphics tablet. Some of the applications already developed for Echo pens include dictionary, foreign language translators, productivity tools, games, interactive books, transcription services, and specialized educational aids etc. The digital smart pen can also be web connected.
The pens and apps will be sold at Best Buy, while the pens and their accessories will be available at Best Buy, Amazon.com, Apple stores, Stable, Target and at Livescribe.com web site. The digital pen is targeted for sale at serious note takers amongst corporate administrators, businessmen, professionals, lecturers, students etc. The price of 4 GB Echo version is $170 and the 8 GB version is $200.
